Decide Your Place of Learning....... Make Your Spending Worthwhile!

Dear Friends

In this busy world, many of us due to inadequate time, fail to think and take a wise decision pertaining to our Childs' Education. As far as education to the children is concerned every one of us have common notion that our child should learn in one of the best and finest schools or colleges and hence are least bothered about the cost involved. Majority of the founders of the colleges and schools taking into advantage make their advertisement so fashionably to attract us and finally we admit our wards in that schools and colleges. Later we feel ourselves guilty and blame the schools and colleges. One of the fact is that none of us have interest in cross checking the facts disclosed the in the advertisements.

The moment when we see the advertisement we rush to the spot and admit the students by large amount of money as capitation fees and extremely higher tuition fees and so on. This practice normal happens among the parents who seek admissions for right from LKG to Masters Degree of any kind.

Hence the following aspects must be considered before making admissions into a school or in a college;

Management Education !

Until last decade, Management Education in India, has been considered as the most prestigious course in the country, and regarded as valuable and attractive course among the youths and their parents. But today it has lost its value and began to fade due to several factors. Such key factors are poor infrastructure, inadequate and inferior quality faculty members, improper selection process, lack of strategic approach in delivering education to the student community. Further the mushrooming growth of Business Schools and Colleges offering Management Courses is too fold. It is pathetic to note that though there is a good intention among these promoters, however they fail in several dimensions. They often engaged in identifying faculty members who can work for lower salary as a process of cost cutting. These faculty members just take up this career as an alternative arrangement until they get an entry into the corporate world. In most of the cases, faculty members of this class may either have a Gold Medal or University Ranks with them but ultimately inside the class room they fail due to lack of

  • Self confidence
  • Communication skill
  • Analytical Skills
  • Domain Knowledge
  • Readiness to meet Challenges

As a result, students come to a state of mind that they can learn themselves by remaining outside the campus and prefer to attend coaching classes of some sort. On the other hand, promoters are least bothered about the students and their main aim is to fill their allotted seats and their cash bags.

Most of the Business Schools in the country always function with an aim to satisfy the inspecting bodies and other agencies by meeting the minimum standards prescribed them. Bodies like AICTE, University Grants Commission and other statutory bodies related to this affair, make one time visit and grant affiliation and approvals in favour of these promoters. Thereafter, on receiving approval and affiliation, the promoters of these learning centers never prepared to upgrade and equip themselves to compete in changing scenario. It is the duty of the apex agencies to monitor frequently these institutions through periodical and surprise visits so that there will be a moral fear among these promoters and render their high degree of service to the students and the community as a whole.

In some of the Management Educational Institution it is quite surprising and shocking to know that the students are not being provided the promised facilities like Wi-Fi Connectivity, Hospitality, Access to Library etc. It is noted from the experience of several academicians in the country, once who had served as Head/Deans/Professors in top notch universities and institutions, after retirement occupy the position as Principals, Directors and Advisory role in these institutions for salary sake and not for the development of the institutions. In some exceptional cases, they never open their mouth and have the courage to offer any valuable recommendations to the management for its growth.

The advisors and heads should come forward to suggest the managements to adopt strategic selection process through which talented heads could be identified for appointment. It is very vital for almost all the centers of higher learning to evolve a mechanism to prevent the frequent migration of faculty members from one to another institution. Failing to do so could affect the image of the institution and pave way for criticism.

Apart the institution have laid down stringent policies relating to appointment of faculty members, disbursement of salary, fringe benefits, and other welfare measures. In some good cases policies of these institutions relating to salary and grant of leave seems to be funny and highly ridiculous. In total welfare measures to faculty and subordinate staff members are highly ignored by these promoters. Once when all the apex bodies and controlling agencies in this affair, have regular and surprise checks without giving any room for excuses and recommendations of any kind, it is guaranteed that all the stakeholders in this arena could raise to the level of pride. It means that laws should be strictly adhered and ensure no one shall escape from punishment.

Now, the need has come and hence, they should revamp the mode of their operations to meet the challenges that they are going to face the competition from the entry of foreign Universities in India.
